A lightweight and easy-to-use OS X developer tool to convert CSV, JSON, PLIST and TSV files to the JSON and PLIST formats with just a click

What's new in Data File Converter 1.0.7:

  • Bug fix.
Read the full changelog

Data File Converter is a simple and minimalistic Mac OS X application that enables you to quickly convert CSV, JSON, PLIST and TSV files to the JSON and PLIST formats. In the process, you can also choose the encoding type and select the type for each key in the resulting JSON or PLIST files.

The application provides two separate windows, one for the actual conversion and the other for choosing the type (string, integer, float, double or array) in each key (type, category and name). For instance, you can have only the integer or the string types for any key.

In the main window, you can view the path to your selected file, choose the output format, encoding and the output location. An additional option is to overwrite the original file after the conversion. By the looks of it, Data File Converter can only process one file at a time.

Furthermore, when converting CSVs or TSVs to JSON or PLIST, your input files should contain first row that consist of column titles. The app takes the column titles and converts them into keys in the resulting JSON or PLIST document. What’s more, selecting rows and adding data within the app is also allowed.

In summary, Data File Converter is a plain-looking OS X utility for developers who want to convert between data files. It might not support many formats and the interface could use more polishing and documentation, but it might be worth your while if you are looking for such a tool.

Health Auto Export allows you to sync Apple Health data to external services via REST API. Data will be sent via a POST request in JSON or CSV format. API Export allows you to create your own database for your health data, or analyze data using an external analytics service.

For feature requests, suggestions and clarifications, please use the contact form.

In Health Auto Export, you define the API URL and headers for the request. Content-Type headers are automatically set for the export format you have selected. e.g. Content-Type : application/json for JSON exports and Content-Type : multipart/form-data for CSV exports.

General

Health Auto Export will perform full-day exports for the selected date-range when performing a manual API export.

When automated export is enabled, Health Auto Export will perform full-day exports for all days since the last automatic or manual export was performed.

For example, a sync for the current day will contain all information for the selected metrics from the start of the day up until the current time. A sync from 5 days ago will contain full-day exports for the preceding days up to the current time on the current day.

Export Configuration & Deep-Linking

Health Auto Export allows several configurable parameters for API Export in-app and via deep-linking using URL schemes. This means if you’d like to build a service that integrates with Health Auto Export, your users can click on a link to populate the API Export fields as long as they have Health Auto Export installed.

URL Scheme

Pre-configuration of API Exports fields is done via the following URL scheme:

Query Parameters

Enter a valid URL to send exported data.

Enter headers as a comma-separated list of key-value pairs. Content-Type headers are automatically applied according the selected format type—multipart/form-data for CSV and application/json for JSON

Export format options are CSV and JSON. The default is JSON

The following are accepted values for setting the time span for data to be synced.

none (Default)

Syncs data for the full previous day plus data up to the current date and time. This sync will run multiple times daily.

lastSync

On each sync, exports all data since the last time the export ran up until the current date and time. This sync will run multiple times daily.

today

Syncs all data for the current date up to the current time. This sync will run multiple times daily.

yesterday

Syncs all data for the full previous day. This sync will run only once daily.

previous7Days

Syncs data for the full previous seven days. This sync will run only once daily.

The following are accepted values for setting the aggregation interval for data to be synced. At this time, it is only possible to use the “days” interval with CSV exports, however, this will be addressed in a future update so that all intervals are available.

none (Default)

When none is set, and exporting in JSON format, Health Auto export uses the seconds interval for the Heart Rate metric and minutes for all other metrics. This provides the most detailed output for Heart Rate data. When exporting to CSV, the “days” interval is used for all metrics.
